Ash Cave-Hocking Hills State Park A mere four miles away, Ash Cave is just a short drive from Wicker Cabin Gifts. Best known for its high-cliff waterfall, Ash Cave is one of the six main hiking areas of Hocking Hills State Park. The first part of the trail is handicap accessible and ends in a sandy basin while the last section climbs a stairway along the upper area by the falls and follows a hemlock-lined trail back to the parking lot. Ash Cave is open year around. It is part of the Hocking Hills State Park Annual Winter Hike, an event bringing out thousands of visitors for a 6 mile trek along some of the most beautiful sections of trails in the United States. Even if you're not a winter hiker, this is one area of the park you don't want to miss in the cooler months. During the coldest part of the winter, the waterfall at Ash Cave has been known to freeze from top to bottom displaying a huge wall of ice.
